New Mood Review

Given the how much I enjoyed the effectiveness of Onnit’s Alpha Brain cognitive enhancing supplement and their Shroom Tech Sport athletic boosting supplement, I was excited to give their New Mood sleep and mood enhancing supplement a try.

Onnit’s New Mood supplement arrived just when I needed it most, on a day where my sleep patterns had been messed up from poor sleep habits the week prior.

But for me, poor sleep habits + lots of hard work is an equation for feeling crappy and down in the dumps. I needed a stress reliever, mood booster, and something to help me get some quality sleep that I desperately needed.

I could see New Mood being extremely useful for those of you doing marathon study (or party) sessions and staying up for days on end because it effectively boosts mood and help relax you to relieve the stress of all that studying (or partying).

Anyways, here’s my New Mood review.

New Mood Review of Effects

Just like when I took Onnit’s Alpha Brain, when I started taking Onnit’s New Mood, I was pretty run down on sleep from slacking on it the week prior.

I had also been working a lot and hitting the gym pretty hard.

I needed to recover and get myself together, and I was hoping that New Mood could help.

Seriously. It works.

I took two capsules of New Mood about an hour before bed and started feeling pretty relaxed and decided to let myself fall asleep earlier than my usual time.

And I slept HARD.

I mean really hard. Like, I was in dreamland until my alarm woke me up, which is a rarity for me. I usually wake up several times a night and don’t have intense dreams. New Mood certainly enhances dreams, because I was having some crazy vivid stuff going on in my brain.

When I woke up, I thought I had overslept, despite my alarm going off.

I just felt too good for 6 am.

It was like I woke up already past that terrible groggy, slow stage that takes a few minutes for your body to shake off after waking up.

I felt RECOVERED.

Like seriously recovered. All the slacking on sleep I did in the past week, vanished.

Overall, New Mood is a buy for me.

I’m going to start implementing it in my daily nootropic stack just because of how effective it is for sleep and dreaming.

The mood boost it provides is a welcome bonus.

A Review of New Mood’s Ingredients

Onnit’s New Mood is full of serotonin-boosting, relaxation enhancing, and mood improving ingredients.

It appears to have been designed very carefully, with many of the ingredients working together synergistically increasing its overall effectiveness.

Precursors to Happiness

L-tryptophan and 5-HTP are both potent serotonin precursors. Combined with Vitamin B6 as a conversion catalyst, they pack quite a punch.

I attribute most of the mood-boosting effects to the increase in serotonin from this product.

I have taken 5-HTP on its own and noticed similar effects, but the combination of ingredients in New Mood work amazingly for mood elevation.

Mood-Boosting

Lemon Balm, Niacin, and Vitamin D-3 are also included to boost your mood.

These additional ingredients are just for increasing the effects of the above ingredients; I consider them to be secondary mood boosters in New Mood.

They are, however, nice additions that make a significant difference. I believe the addition of these ingredients is another reason why New Mood is more effective than just taking a serotonin-boosting supplement like 5-HTP by itself.

Enhanced Sleep and Relaxation

Then you have magnesium, valerian root, chamomile, and jujube seed extract.

The relaxation and anti-anxiety effects that these ingredients provide are the other half of the New Mood that this supplement creates.

The first half is to create mood-boosting neurotransmitters, and this half is meant to relax you and be able to take full advantage of your enhanced mood.

These ingredients encourage muscle and mind relaxation, improved ability to focus through calming effects, increased ability to sleep and recover (it works especially well at this) and to lower your stress levels.

My Experience with New Mood

  • Worked quickly
  • Significantly improved my mood. I was completely unfazed by many things throughout the day that could ruin my day
  • Serotonin benefits are strong
  • Improved my sleep. I slept deeper and woke up without grogginess
  • Sped up my workout and fatigue recovery
  • Increased my clarity and focus throughout the day

Concluding Thoughts

Overall, I would say the ingredients included in New Mood were well-chosen for mood-boosting, anti-anxiety, and sleep quality.

It works wonders for me.

For its purpose, I would not add anything to this stack. However, for a total sleep enhancement and relaxation stack, I would consider adding melatonin or phenibut.
