How to Measure and Consume Nootropic Powders

If you’re going to start experimenting with nootropic supplements, you will need to make a couple of small investments to get started. Most high-quality nootropics are sold in their pure form as bulk powders. Naturally, you may be wondering how you’re supposed to measure and consume your doses.

You’re going to need a milligram scale to measure the bulk powder accurately. If you really want to make your life easier, we also recommend getting a capsule kit so that you can prepare your supplements in capsules for weeks or months at a time.

1. A Milligram Scale

You’ll need a scale to properly dose out bulk nootropic powders to be able to accurately measure your dosages. The primary requirement when choosing a scale for dosing out nootropics is that it needs to be accurate enough to weigh out milligrams.

While a milligram scale sounds expensive, there are some very affordable options. A good scale will usually cost between $20 and $50. I wouldn’t spend any less than that as you usually get what you pay for and the last thing you need is a scale that you don’t trust. Getting your dosages right is essential, even for your own safety.

We recommend the GEMINI-20 Digital Milligram Scale. It is a favorite of the nootropic community and for good reason. It is capable of extremely precise measurements and is fairly priced making it a perfect scale for measuring your nootropics.

When you are weighing out your does, you need to be sure you can trust your scale.

Another nice milligram scale to consider is the GEM20.

2. A Capsule Kit (optional)

If you really want to integrate nootropics into your daily routine, using bulk nootropics, the most convenient way to do that is to fill your own capsules.

It’s a lot easier than it sounds and, with an inexpensive little kit, you’ll save yourself the headache of measuring out your doses all the time.

This is even more essential once you start taking a nootropic stack (combining several nootropic supplements). With a capsule kit, you can prepare your capsules for weeks, or months, at a time.

The best set up you can get yourself is the Cap-M-Quik Capsule Maker with size #00 capsules. It will make life that much easier for anyone who is serious about getting into nootropics.

    Hi, great article and website.
How to fill up with the Noopept powder since the minimum dose for noopept is 10mg: is there a capsule size that match 10 mg increments?

  • Jbom

The Capsule Machine link is no longer goood.

I’m trying to do a suggested nootropic stack that you recommend. There are a number of different supplements included in the stack. Can I combine multiple supplements in the same capsule – or do I need to create a different capsule for each of the supplements? Has someone put the specific beginner nootropic stack you recommend into capsules and created a walkthrough for that? Just want to get it all blended right – and want to understand if any additional filler is needed. Thanks!

Here’s a detailed guide on how to cap nootropic pills yourself. It’s very detailed and should help you out.

Thank you! I looked at that link prior to asking my question. It gives an example of one supplement and one filler. When creating a stack of seven or eight supplements, do I use one supplement and one filler per capsule or do I combine multiple supplements in one capsule? Sorry – newbie question. Seems like I could combine multiple supplements in one capsule, but I’m unclear on how to figure out the weights and amounts – and when there are such tiny amounts of some supplements (for example noopept), can I be confident that equal amounts are going into each capsule I create just by mixing the supplements together? Thanks for any help or guidance on this!

Will it affect the nootropics negatively if multiple different kinds are mixed together in one capsule and sit anywhere from one month to a year?

  • John Allen

If we do not purchase the capsule packer, can these supplements be mixed with water and have the same effectiveness?

    • Braintropic

Some supplements are fat-soluble and therefore will not dissolve in water. The Effectiveness shouldn’t be an issue, though.

i bit the bullet and bought a scale, mostly for the noopept. 10mg is too small of a dose to eyeball with a spoonette. sigh.
